Nutritional supplements are almost a necessity in today’s world. The reason is many food products we consume just don’t have the nutrients they once had, making nutritional deficiency almost impossible to avoid in these modern times. I know, you would think it would be the opposite. The reasons are not only due to our faster paced lifestlye, but also from soil nutrient depletion.
Most people enjoy the convenience of fast foods due to our busy lifestyle, but unfortunately this convenience is not the best choice for nutrition.
You know the food pyramid we all learned about in school. It listed six food groups and just how much of each food group it is believed you need to have on a daily basis. A lot of people though, don’t remember the food groups, don't agree with or utilize the information, and a whole lot of people just don’t care. Still, it is believed to be the basic information on what foods we are supposed to eat daily to maintain our nutritional needs.
Many of us believe we are eating right, at least for the most part, so our nutritional substance should be good right? Well, when you go to the store and buy groceries, what you buy, may not be quite what you think it is. For instance, when you buy produce, by the time fresh produce actually reaches your dinner plate, it may have been sprayed, waxed, irradiated, or even "gassed" to make them look ripe even though they were picked long before the plant was able to add the final nutritional touches that finish the ripening process and add the delicious flavor that is now often missing from fresh fruits and vegetables. Unless you grow your own food, which most of us do not have the time or inclination to do, the food you purchase in the supermarkets has already lost most of its life force and is nutrient poor. On top of that, even if you could purchase fresh produce directly from the fields, in most cases the soil that produces the food has been depleted of essential minerals and nutrients by years of over production, over use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides.
Most people believe that if they feel good, and fit, then they are. They believe that they must be getting all the nutrients they need because they don’t feel sick, but that belief couldn’t be further from the truth. It is the very continual nutritional deficiencies that cause or allow diseases to proliferate. So since getting the nutritional supplements is certainly a necessity, how do we determine that we are?
Well, without extensive medical tests we may not really know. But, since we do know today’s foods only have about half of the nutrients they used to, because they lose nutrients from 20 to 100% depending on which nutrient you are talking about from processing and depleted soil, common sense tells us we are probably not in the prime position of nutrient intake. So, as they say, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. In other words, the expense of taking natural supplements in addition to your diet, is miniscule in comparison to the benefits – a longer, healthier, happier life.
Of course health supplements should never replace proper nutrition; they are actually for complementing your diet to enable you to get all the right nutrients that you need. The thing to know about nutrients is that it takes a WHOLE lot of too much to make a negative impact on your body, and paying attention to the suggested use labels can neutralize possible negative impacts.
In today's fast paced lifestyles it can be difficult to stay away from fast foods or non-fresh foods, but if you are taking natural supplements, it gives you a feeling of comfort and control knowing you won’t be lacking all your nutrients.
Just remember the difference between natural and synthetic. First of all, natural supplements help you overcome nutritional deficiencies with the real natural supplements you would get if you always ate exactly what you needed every single day. Synthetic supplements on the other hand are just that, synthetic, and your body may not absorb, or utilize the nutrient in the way that it is needed. Every individual needs all the nutrients in their proper amounts for optimum health, so utilizing natural supplements just helps to ensure your body gets what it needs. When this happens, it boosts your immune system, strengthens your muscles and bones, slows aging, detoxifies your system, reduces stress effects, and well, you get the idea of where this is leading.
The positive effects of natural nutritional supplements are too many to list, but remember you have to take them on a regular basis to get the nutritional effects.
